Cobra Warrior 2022

Exercise Cobra Warrior the Capstone tactical training event of the RAF, back for 2022 after a several year gap, due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
This year included UK, Italian, German, USAF and NATO involvement.The aim to develop and practice interoperability between NATO members. This year saw RAF Waddington hosting Italian Typhoons and German Tornados.
German Tornados
The German detachment consisted of six ECR Tornados at Waddington, which brought Suppression of Enemy Air Defence (SEAD) capability to the exercise, led by Detachment Commander Lieutenant Colonel Stefan Kallner.

Italian Typhoons
The Italian contingent consisted of six Typhoons from 4, 36, 37 and 51 Stormo, the detachment was led by Major Marco Setini of the AMI.

Other aircraft supporting Cobra Warrior 2022, included assets from RAF Waddington, F-16, F-15 and F-35 aircraft operating from RAF Lakenheath, also a Nato E-3A Sentry and a Gulfstream G550 CAEW aircraft.
