The Blades Aerobatic Display Team

The Blades Aerobatic Display Team operated from Sywell Airfield up until the team’s retirement in  2022, flying four Extra 300 fully aerobatic aircraft. Their pilots were all highly skilled fast jet aircrew. Some of them have also been RAF display pilots on such aircraft as the Jaguar and Harrier. As well as flying with The Red Arrows,

The Blades have carried out hundreds of displays over the last few years, and been seen by millions of people. As well as flying displays, The Blades undertake corporate and fundraising events which includes recently raising funds for Children in Need.

One of the highlights has been working with the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, flying in formation with the Vulcan and a two seat Spitfire, which included five very happy people flying in the Spitfire and the Extra 300s

We would like to pay tribute to the pilots who have flown with the team and to the ground staff who supported them over the years – especially to those who delivered the final season in 2022 with The Blades’ traditional professionalism and flair. They will be missed.’
