World War I Aircraft

Aircraft used in the early part of World War I were mostly used for reconnaissance duties. Some of them were used as light bombers where the bombs were actually thrown out of the cockpit. In later years as more Aircraft were developed some were fitted with forward facing machine guns which were synchronized to fire through the propeller.
