Helicopters

Helicopters have played a major part in this Countries Aviation history, being used by all three services, the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force. Some of the older types of Military Helicopters such as the Chinook and Sea King have given sterling service throughout the World. Including operations in the South Atlantic during the Falklands War and in Iraq and Afghanistan. With the new generation of Helicopters now well into service, such as the Apache and Merlin which are now proving themselves out in theatre.

Let's not forget some of the previous generation such as the Whirlwind, Wessex and Lynx. Some of which are still in service albeit with civilian operators. We are lucky in this Country to have a regular turnaround of Foreign Helicopters visiting some of our major Air shows. Not forgetting our own vintage types who make regular Air show appearances, which include the Westland Wasp and Bell 47.
